May 3rd, 2004 -- An art exhibition for local artists in Kortenberg in the Flemish Brabant near Brussels features recent works from Florence Béroud. It is open to the public on 1, 2, 8 and 9th of May from 14.00 to 18.00. As part of the "Week van de Amateurkunsten" taking place in the Flemish region, the ontmoetingscentrum Berkenhof - Beekstraat 26 - 3070 Kortenberg - has invited local artists to take part in an exhibition.
Florence Béroud was welcoming visitors during the Vernissage on April 30 and on the 1st and 2nd of May. She will not be available on the 8 and 9 May but you can still go see her work. It ranges from a terracotta bas-relief transformed into a cocktail table, to the 2,5 meters high foot standing in the main hall, a simple and efficient work made of a beam cut in five pieces and held by a cable made of steel. Two other feet are shown, both very different in style and molded in clay and cast in plaster. Finally there is also the delicate stone works, shot! and two sirens. For those who are not able to make the detour, photos of the exhibit are available by opening a webpage in the Gallery;
The exhibition welcomed some 400 visitors during the first week-end, mostly locals but also some coming from as far away as Lille and Paris.
Also noteworthy are the exhibits of the very talented painter originally from Sofia, Bulgaria Molly Tchokanova; fine aquarelles from Marian Sempels and colorful oils and aquarelles from Portuguese painter José Frederico Mayer Pinto Machado. Roel Maes presents a fresh sample of his photographs featuring nature mostly. Michel Eloot presents his woodworks and Inge Hauspie her jewels made from stones and crystals; both offer good opportunities for a present for Mothers' day. Children will mostly have eyes for the dolls and dwarf makers Nancy Van Ransbeeck and Betty Ral. They will pull their parents to the little buvette which has been decorated by a local school in a space and futuristic theme.
